Monte Maria
Semi-hard cheese
The "Monte Maria" received its name from the famous Monte Maria cloister in the upper Val Venosta, that rises up above Burgusio. The cheese is wrapped in a firm and rough rind, is light- to straw-colored yellow, and displays pea-sized holes. Its consistency is compact, however the palate is still creamy and soft, the aroma fresh and milky. The "Monte Maria" is a very harmonious and balanced cheese, which is why it is so versatile in the kitchen.
