Leo, our apprentice

Leo, our apprentice, is completing a varied, three-year part-time training program to become a dairy technologist. During this time, Leo and the other apprentices receive an apprenticeship contract and in-depth theoretical training at the Tyrolean Technical College in Schwaz-Rotholz. The theoretical training takes place in Tyrol and consists of three blocks of about nine weeks each, spread over the duration of the apprenticeship.

Practical training, on the other hand, takes place in the company. This allows the future dairy technologists to get to know all departments and gain a comprehensive overview. At the Bruneck site, we go through each department in turn during our training and are initially taught by our colleagues and have the opportunity to get involved right away," explains Leo. As he gains experience, he can apply what he has learned and work independently. His experienced colleagues are always there to support him.

A particular highlight of the training program is a two-week internship in Bolzano, during which the trainees get to know the company as a whole. In addition to the production of cheese, SKYR and mascarpone, they also gain an insight into the production of other dairy products such as yogurt and butter.

Thanks to this structured and comprehensive training program, the future dairy technologists not only learn the theoretical basics but are also optimally prepared for their future career in practice. Many doors will then be open to them in the cooperative. At Mila, you have the opportunity to develop your career and take on more responsibility as you gain experience, for example as a shift or department manager, or in other interesting and challenging positions," says Leo.
